Daniel Dupré



Dr. Dupré was born in March 29th, 1954, and is into the Martial Arts since 1962 when, at the age of 8 years old, he started Judo with Master Taruo Shinzawa, graduating as1st Dan in 1969. In 1967, he started Shotokan Karate (JKA), graduating as 1st Dan with Master Hidetaka Nishiyama in 1970.

In 1968 he started Taekwon-Do, and in 1969 he started training with Master Lee Kwan Young, discíple of General Choi Hong Hi and ITF Representative for France at that time, graduating as 1st Dan in 1972. When Master Lee migrated to the WTF, Dr. Dupré stayed in the ITF.

Since then, he trained with several ITF Masters and participated in numeorus Seminars ministered by General Choi, graduating as 6th Dan in 1997.

 

   
     

In 1975 Dr. Dupré started Hapkido training, graduating in 1979 with Grand Master Myung Jae Nam. Actually, he is a Hapkido 6th Dan, graduated in Korea, in 2005.

As a competitor, Sa Bom Nim Dupré participated in numerous Judo, Karate, Full-contact and Taekwon-Do competitions, from 1966 to 1982, capturing the Junior Judo National Championship in 1967, a Junior Karate Regional Championship in 1969, several Regional Taekwon-Do Championships (French and European), and was ranked among the 5 feather weigth contenders in the French AFFC (pre-ISKA Full Contact organisation) in 1978-80'.

As an Instructor, he teaches since 1972, having disciples in 9 countries, and was the ITF Oficial Representative for France and Luxembourg (1986-1991), among other responsibilities.

At the end of 1991, Dr. Dupré moved permanently to Brazil, where he is being dedicating his time to his scientific research and business activities, and to Martial Arts teaching.

Today, Dr. Dupré is working in the TechGate Project to standardize, make public and teach traditional aspects of the Korean Martial heritage, from which Taekwon-Do and Hapkido were developed, or were complementary to those ancient Martial Arts form Korea and the Orient (as Keupso Chirigui, Hanbang for body conditioning, for example).

This site is part of his strategy, and is the consequence of more than 40 years of uninterrupted, physical and intellectual dedication to the Martial Arts study.
