Cheolsusul Hanbang ingredients

Here we introduce a standardized group of herbs, minerals and animal ingredients, as used Traditional Korean Medicine. These Hanbang ingredients are the most commonly used in Hanbang traumathology liniments.

Herbs are organized alphabetically, by scientific names.

We include the Hanja writing and the Pinjin Chinese name, to facilitate purchase in Chinese Herbs shops in Western Countries (the only places in the West to find Hanbang ingredients).

The effects (uses) of the different ingredients were coded to make it easier their analysis. Follow the link to see the codes.

Composition includes:

  • Main ingredients aimed at attaining the required effect;
  • Assisting ingredients, to enhance the effects of the main ingredients;
  • Secondary ingredients, to reduce secondary symptoms and side effects of main and assisting ingredients;
  • Adjusting ingredients, to enhance smell and absorption of the whole formulae,

A formula is made from 10-15 ingredients with dosage depending on individual level of conditioning and training strategy. Obviously, formulae for the start up training may not be of use for advanced training, as conditioning follows different steps:

  • At the beginning, inflammation, skin rupture, bleeding and bruises are the main consequences of conditioning training.
  • As you improve, training becomes more intense and aggressive, killing superficial nerves, as the skin gets thicker and tissue gets less prone to inflammation.
  • After skin and underlying tissue becomes resilient, bone, cartilages and ligaments start to suffer more stress, and an advanced formula is needed to protect and develop inner tissues.
  • When you reach the maintenance level (this is highly subjective), you shift your traning to improving blood and Ki flow (this is very important), and conservation of healthier cartilages and other sensitive tissue.

There exist a different formula for each particular stage and strategy training along the conditioning process.

Note that not all the ingredients with a particular property act the same way. And not all ingredients combine adequately in a harmonic mixture ( synergy).

If you are not familiarized with Hanbang theory, maintain the structure and composition of our formulae. They were structured by specialists. It is not in the scope of this Site to teach Hanbang theory.

There exist several hundred known Hanbang ingredients used in liniments and other products used on trauma therapy. Many of them are used for conditioning training and recovery of injuries related to Martial Arts practice.

If you want to experiment with herbs combinations and amount variations, you need to be under the supervision of a trained Hanbang specialist or a Han Kuk Mu Sul teacher with this particular knowledge.
